"there is still light at the end of the tunnel"

At this moment and time we are all together living through some unprecedented times and I sincerely hope all of you out there are safe and healthy.

Globally, all around the world the hospitality industry & many foodservice businesses are under severe pressure, not knowing how they will come out of this crisis, many jobs are at stake and the uncertainties of what the next weeks will bring, or when and how this will all end, are constantly on our minds.

And still the amazing, innovative, unprejudiced, response to this crisis, with so many voluntary helpers is overwhelming. The whole world is focused on joining together and supporting each other to conquer these challenging times.

Maybe all what's happening around us can let us realise that there are more important things in the world at this time of day, compared to what we might have thought one or two months ago.

Suddenly solidarity, support, compassion, helping each other, spontaneous applause and appreciation for complete strangers are in the center of our daily life.

This unprejudiced health risking support of so many of us for all people surrounding us, without hesitation, is the kind of humans we really are inside of us.

As my roots lie in the hospitality industry, it gives me great joy to see so many people communicating through social media with food. Probably next to health and wellbeing, food is the most important thing on human minds. I see so many people sharing innovative, delicious, authentic, healthy and nutritious food pictures and recipes, much more as ever before and it seems that everybody is enjoying cooking and is proud to showcase what they have achieved with their own hands and imagination.

Now this could be the perfect time to take a standstill and realise that:

cooking is fun, cooking is easy, cooking doesn’t really need so much time as we always thought and most of all, homemade cooking tastes far better than any bought in ready made or convenience products.

Over the last, i don’t know how many years, many leaders throughout the hospitality industry, food service businesses, Governments and Global Institutions have been trying to shift diets to a more conscious, healthy and sustainable approach, and how funny it may sound so many of you are all, unconsciously doing that already, right now, every day,

BUT

Just as a reminder

Global food production systems are responsible for

  • 60% of biodiversity loss

  • 30% of Greenhouse gas emissions

  • 33% of global soil degradation

Only 9 plant species account for nearly 70% of our total global crops, despite the fact that we have over 6000 different cultivated plant species available for food production.

All these facts are a part of the increasing climate change and global warming and resort into a world that will seize to be able to produce enough food for all its population within the next few decades.

We all know we have to change this, we need to change this, and we still can change this.

Maybe with a crisis, we are experiencing at this moment right now, we realise how important a healthy world is, lets change our mindset right now, lets do it all together

together we can do this, in the same way we will together conquer Corona

Stay at home and stay healthy
